We LOVE Berlin. We’ve been three times in the past three years and are planning to go again this year. Kreuzberg is one of our favourite areas of the city – it’s cool, bohemian and really cheap for food and drinks! For the best burger in Berlin, you need to head here!
Get to Kreuzburg by either jumping on the metro – get off at Schlesisches Tor station, or walk – Berlin is a beautiful city to walk around. If you’re walking, enter Kreuzberg via Oberbaumbruke Bridge, bear right – just follow the train tracks and you should see Burgermeister housed in a small green building underneath the train tracks (you can’t miss it as you exit the station if you’re travelling by metro too).
The best burger in Berlin
There’s no roof, no walls – Burgermeister has outside seating and areas to stand while you eat and drink, and small and large groups share tables as the place gets busier.
The menu is basic – burgers or fries – but what a selection of burgers and fries!
We always go for the Meister Aller Klassen – double patty, double cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce and jalapeños. It’s big but it’s good! I haven’t had a better burger (and I’ve eaten a lot of burgers). We’ve been known to go twice in a 3 day trip.
Grab a bottle of Rothaus beer to go with your burger and enjoy a delicious lunch for around 10 Euros.
Be prepared to queue for up to 20-30 minutes to order your food during busy periods – Berliners come from far and wide to eat here. The wait is well worth it though – don’t be put off.
There is a second Burgermeister at Kottbusser Tor – we’ve never tried that one – but if it’s half as good as the one at Schlesisches Tor, give it a go!!
